AirBnB to house 20,000 Afghan refugees
AirBnB has pledged to help the crisis occurring in Afghanistan by offering accommodation to refugees
AirBnB will work with hosts who want to extend their homes to Afghan refugees in need, free of charge. The AirBnB co-founder and chief Brian Chesky will help to fund the mission.
“While we will be paying for these stays, we could not do this without the generosity of our hosts,” said Chesky.
“The displacement and resettlement of Afghan refugees in the US and elsewhere us one of the biggest humanitarian crises of our time. We feel a responsibility to step up. I hope this inspires other business leaders to do the same. There’s no time to waste”.
Since the exit of US troops from Afghanistan, there has been a mass exit of many of its citizens, with the Taliban taking over the capital - and what it means for their way of life.
Starting today, Airbnb will begin housing 20,000 Afghan refugees globally for free.

AirBnB has also been working on a smaller scale by supporting the International Rescue Committee (IRC), New York based refugee charities, and Church World Service and helping to provide immediate short-term accommodation form Afghan refugees.
Airbnb has already received an “overwhelming amount of interest” from hosts who want to open up their homes to Afghan refugees, a company spokesperson told PRWeek.
