Bentley is going digital by 2030
Luxury car manufacturer Bentley has unveiled plans to go fully electric next decade
Going green does not mean compromising on style, particularly when it comes to your car choice.
Bentley has announced that it will be doing away with its petrol engines and going fully electric by 2030. Ahead of that, the brand has promised to offer only plug-in hybrid or battery electric cars by 2026.
'Within a decade, Bentley will transform from a 100-year-old luxury car company to a new, sustainable, wholly ethical role model for luxury,' explained Adrian Hallmark, Bentley's chief executive.
Zero-carbon exhaust emissions mark an enormous U-turn for the company, once famed for its enormous 12-cylinder petrol engines. The company is now hoping to become a bastion of environmental sustainability in the car industry.
This move could make economical sense, as the pandemic has hurt traditional car sales, electric car sales continue to rise. Sales of electric cars have tripled in the UK so far this year. Hallmark said this environmental initiative would make Bentley "financially resilient and recession proof."
