Dating apps have introduced ‘Vaccine Stickers’
Are you more likely to get a date if you are vaccinated? Well, quite possibly…
Whilst it is no surprise to any of us that dating in the past 18 months has changed drastically, dating apps are finding new and innovative ways to keep the single members of the population safe when trying to find ‘the one.’
From this week, under 30’s in the UK have started being offered the Covid vaccination, and in order to encourage millennials to get it, the Department of Health and Social Care have teamed up with leading dating apps to push the vaccine roll out programme.
Those who use Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, Badoo, Plenty of Fish, Our Time and Muzmatch can receive perks from adding a ‘Vaccination Stamp’ to their dating profile. Most apps have given these users extra boosts, super likes, or even virtual roses. This can help up users stakes in the possibility of getting a date in what many are already referring to as ‘the summer of love’.
It is worth mentioning that these vaccination stickers do not connect to the NHS app, meaning the legitimacy of the sticker can be questioned.
The new feature came about as dating apps are used mainly by younger generations, and it is those who feel they do not necessarily ‘need’ the vaccine due to their age and health. Ministers introduced this feature among the dating apps to try and up the appeal of getting the vaccine.
Dating apps have also introduced ‘Covid Safe’ features which take into account the risks when individuals are getting back to face to face dates. For instance there are options to add to your Bumble profile which include; outside dates only, please wear a mask, I am adhering to social distancing, as well as being able to flag if you have had the vaccination or not.
Cupid’s arrow has just become Cupid’s needle.
