WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook are all down right now
From 5pm on Monday 4th October all Facebook powered platforms ceased working. The three apps which are all owned and run by Facebook completely shut down.
Error pages, no new posts being uploaded to the news feed, and the ‘wheel of death’ on WhatsApp were being experienced by users.
Facebook has experienced a blackout before, they are rare but have a huge impact on the population as they are 3 of the worlds biggest apps.
The company is famously vague about the cause of issues with a similar nature, and this often leads to a brief or no explanation of the causation of the problem.
In a leaked transcript from The Verge in 2019, Zuckerberg stated any system errors are a ‘big deal’, and these problems can lead to a mistrust in the population which can often take ‘months’ to gain trust again, that is if they ever return to the platforms.
Andy Stone, a spokesperson for the company announced on Twitter ‘We are aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products, we are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologise for any inconvenience’.
